Letter from the Multimedia and Poetry Editorial Team

As the Poetry and Multimedia Editorial Team, we had the honor of reviewing your submissions and creating the journal. Throughout the past semester, we have come together to learn more about the editorial processes and build on our skills. The most impactful exercise we did was when we reviewed “So Much Water, So Close to Home” by Raymond Carver and saw the differences from the original to the published versions. This illustrated how much power the editor can have in the final form of the piece and showed us how important it is to exercise caution with this power. When it came to the photography part of the journal, we looked for pieces that were both technically sound and also pleasing to the eye. By displaying certain composition techniques, we were able to fully display how individual cadets perceived life on campus. We were looking for photos that looked good and were palatable to the members of the Academy. As for the poetry, we wanted poems that really created a feeling, whether this was the feeling of wanting to stay in bed all day or showing your grandson your view of the world. These poems all allow us as editors and you as the audience to get a look into someone’s life. Whether your work got accepted or not, we greatly appreciate everyone who took the time to submit. To those of you who are just viewing this as an audience, we greatly appreciate the time you are taking to enjoy our journal. Have an amazing year!
